The Directorate General of Human Rights provides secretarial support for bodies established under the European Social Charter, the European Convention for the Prevention of Torture, the Framework Convention for the Protection of National Minorities and for the European Commission against Racism and Intolerance. The Directorate also assists in the implementation of the Council of Europe's inter-governmental programme of activities and assists the Committee of Ministers in the exercise of its functions under the European Convention on Human Rights Convention-based activities
